Methodological Monoculture

A few minutes ago in Zürich, CH, G. Reinmann (German blog) finished a great keynote speech at the GMW 06 conference on media in the sciences.

She argued impressively that teaching, learning, and “Bildung” research tries too much to imitate the natural sciences, especially by using quantitative methodologies “only after” innovations. She recommended that educational research should rest on three pillars: besides natural sciences methods, also humanities’ and engineering sciences patterns.

I hope her German PDF or at least the abstract will soon be translated.
